2" Receiver Hitch Conversion for Mercedes Unimog U1300L U1700 404 Military NATO 4-Bolt Pattern
Custom 2" Receiver Hitch for Mercedes-Benz Unimog (NATO 4-Bolt Pattern)
Up for sale is a heavy-duty, tactical-grade 2-inch receiver hitch upgrade designed to seamlessly adapt your military-surplus vehicle to standard civilian towing equipment. This adapter utilizes the classic 4-bolt layout, making it an excellent, rugged solution for Mercedes-Benz Unimog owners looking to haul modern trailers without modifying their factory frame.
Key Features
- Dual-Purpose Utility: Features a standard 2-inch square receiver tube on the bottom to accept standard civilian drop hitches, cargo carriers, or recovery shackles, while featuring an integrated top wedge anchor loop for heavy-duty tow chains or military shackles.
- Zero-Drill Bolt-On Design: Mounts directly over the central frame spine of your vehicle's rear crossmember. It offers an incredibly clean, compact footprint that preserves your truck's legendary departure angles and off-road ground clearance.
- Built for Extreme Duty: Constructed from thick, heavy-walled American alloy steel. It is finished in a high-gloss, weather-resistant black protective coating to guard against rust, corrosion, and harsh trail conditions.
Unimog Fitment & Hardware Notes
Because this hitch uses the standard military 4-bolt pintle configuration, it lines up directly with the rear crossmember holes on various European tactical vehicles:
- Compatible Models: Fits popular military-surplus Unimog variants including the 404, U1300L, and U1700 series sharing the metric NATO crossmember plate.
- Important Installation Note: Standard U.S. military trucks use imperial hardware, but Mercedes-Benz Unimogs feature M12 metric threads tapped straight into the structural steel frame. To complete this installation safely on a Unimog, you will simply need to reuse your factory frame bolts or source four (4) Grade 10.9 M12 metric bolts rather than using standard 1/2-inch imperial hardware.
